The Department of Parks & Recreation oversees the activity and upkeep at the Borough’s fields, courts and rinks, and is responsible for all of the activities at Borough parks, the Municipal Pool and the summer recreation program (The Shack). Parks & Recreation also runs a host of programs throughout the year including swim lessons, safety courses and open gym. In addition, the Department runs a Community Shuttle for seniors and acts as the conduit between the Borough and numerous citizen-run committees and organizations in town.

Recreation Advisory Board

Mark Barone is a graduate of Cook College, Rutgers University with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Planning and Design.  Mark completed his education with a Horticulture Professional Internship with the Walt Disney World Corporation in Lake Buena Vista, Florida.  Prior to joining the Borough, Mark interned with the New Jersey Jackals for three years and owned and operated his own landscape design firm.  Mark’s experience also includes pool management in Teaneck and Director of Intramural Sports for Rutgers Recreation.  Mark is a certified lifeguard instructor, lifeguard training and CPR/ AED instructor for the professional rescuer.  Mark has been with the Borough since 2008.

In addition, Mark is responsible for the Department’s Community Shuttle for seniors and acts as the conduit between the Borough and numerous citizen-run committees and organizations in town.  Currently, Mark sits on several boards and committees in Glen Rock, including:  the Recreational Advisory Board, Game On Glen Rock!, Senior Citizen Advisory Committee, Friends of the Arboretum, Glen Rock Environmental Commission and the Shade Tree Advisory Committee.
